We are a Bible-believing Christian church that embraces the Historic Reformed and Presbyterian tradition. We are members of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church, a denomination that began in the 1930s in reaction to the liberalism of the mainline Presbyterian Church. The word "orthodox" is not to be confused with the Eastern Orthodox Church. Orthodox simply means "straight thinking."
To say we are "Reformed" is to identify ourselves with the great Protestant Reformation of the 16th century. This was a time when many of the central truths of the Bible were recovered, like Justification by faith alone. Mankind by nature is fallen and his life has been "formed" by sin. To be "Reformed" simply means to be re-forming all of life and doctrine according to God's Word.
We believe that the Bible, consisting of the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments, is the infallible and inerrant Word of God. As such, it is the only authority for the Church. Furthermore, it is sufficient. The church need not go outside the Bible to determine doctrine and practice.
We believe that there is one God who exists in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. And these three persons are the same in substance and equal in power and glory.
We believe that God created man male and female after His own image. Man was created morally upright and without sin. As a result of Adam's sin in the garden, all men are now morally corrupt and by nature under God's wrath and curse. God's holy justice demands that He punish all sin by eternal damnation.
We believe that Jesus Christ as the eternal Son of God was born of the Virgin Mary without sin. He was sent by God the Father to redeem fallen sinners. His atoning work on the cross as a substitute provided the sacrifice that was necessary for sinners to be restored to favor with God. We believe God the Father showed His acceptance of this sacrifice of His Son by raising Him from the dead on the third day. He now sits at the right hand of God the Father and intercedes for His people. We believe that this same Jesus is coming again to judge the living and the dead.
We believe that salvation is a free gift from God and is received by repentance and faith in Christ alone. We believe that all those who are truly saved are given new natures and are enabled to live lives in obedience to God.
